What is a Scientific Chair?

A Scientific Chair is a research or academic program within a university structure. Its target is to enhance the human knowledge and support the development of active thinking to serve the national society.
The Chair is usually funded by financial aid grants. The Sources of financial aids are either Private aid or Institutional aid or both and it can be paid fully or repayable according to the agreement with the source of the fund.


Bibliography

Scientific chairs are known all over the world and the most known one is the Lucasian's Chair of mathematics that was deeded in December 1663 at Cambridge University as a result of a gift from Henry Lucas. The chair was occupied by more than 17 well known scientist such as Sir Isaac Newton who is the most known in the history of science and the current holder is Stephen Hawking.
The USA is considered a pioneer in the number of academic chairs as it counts in thousands, Canada has more than 2000 chairs, South Africa hold more than 200 and in Saudi Arabia by the end of 2007 there were around 50 chairs.   • Ahmed Hassan Fitaihi was born in Jiddah. Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as of 11/14/1942.

To utilize our available intellectual and laboratory scientific capabilities to improve the diagnostic and therapeutic services in the field of prostate health based on solid information that are derived from high quality research work of international standards

Objectives

  • Conduct a clinical study in the western region of Saudi Arabia on patients with prostatic diseases and inter-related disorders such as chronic prostatitis and erectile dysfunction in order to identify the clinical characteristics of those patients.
  • Conduct a microbiological diagnostic study on an adequate number of patients with prostatic diseases to identify a wide spectrum of the infective agents that cause the infections.
  • Study the exact ability of the bacterial cell to adhere to the prostatic cell in the first step of the bacterial infection. A search for non-antibiotic blocking agent to block this step will be sought.
  • Conduct an experimental study to assess the role of anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and anti-proliferative activities of some natural product remedies in experimentally-induced prostatic enlargement in rats.
  • Experimental evaluation of the potential beneficial effects of estrogen synthesis inhibitors and/or modulators against benign prostatic hyperplasia.
  • Conduct a study on the profile of amino acids and biogenic materials in human semen for clinical diagnosis of certain andrological Cases using highly sensitive HPLC techniques.
  • Utilize innovative methods in certain drug delivery to the prostate gland.
  • Design and synthesize a novel prostate-specific anti-cholinergic drug

 

Expected Outcomes

  1. Out a clear vision about the spread of disease, chronic inflammation of the prostate and erectile dysfunction concomitantly with benign prostatic hyperplasia in patients who were subjected to clinical study in urology clinics.
  2. Out by the kinds of bacteria and other microorganisms that cause infections in the prostate in patients who were studied samples of them.

  6. Out perception on the effectiveness of anti-inflammatory and oxidation of some natural products of treatment for experimentally induced prostatic hyperplasia in experimental animals.
  7. Out vision for a modern pharmaceutical compound can reduce the prostate gland secretions redundant.
