Objectives:
The objectives of the research labs are as follows:
-
To establishment a Biotechnology lab with high-level research facilities for staff members and other researchers.
-
To train the graduate students to acquire scientific and technical skills in biotechnology field.
-
To engage the industrial companies to help them in solving the arising problems during manufacture
-
To cooperate with the industrial companies to improve the large scale production of valuable biological compounds.
Mission:
The mission of the Biotechnology Research Lab is to catalyze the translation of basic biomedical studies into diagnostic and therapeutic technologies that benefit human health and society in Saudi Arabia. The research works focus on the development of academic-based technologies toward commercial goals. The research lab is designed for developing the large scale production of biological compounds that essential in the treatment of some diseases. In addition, channels of cooperation between the academic researches and the industry can be opened to fulfill their requirements.
Vision:
The vision of the Fermentation Research Unit is to develop and improve the large scale microbial production of biological compounds that are essential in many pharmaceutical preparations. In addition the production of other microbial products, required in large quantities for industries, can be improved in the research lab through physiological optimization of the microbial growth and biological productivity.
Applications:
The lab is designed to study the followings:
-
Large scale production of microbial products.
-
