In collaboration with the Quality and Academic Accreditation Unit (QAAU) of the faculty, a cultural and educational activity was organized on Tuesday, 25/1/1433 AH, corresponding to 20/12/2011 AD at 12 o'clock noon, for the faculty students that was also attended by the Dean and Vice Dean, as well as the staff members and administrators of the faculty. Prof. Dr. Najwa Alshaer; Professor of Natural Products, Faculty of Pharmacy, held a lecture entitled "The Concept of Quality and Accreditation" that dealt with the definition of the concept of quality and usefulness of the adherence to the standards of quality and academic accreditation in order to obtain high performance for all employees of the faculty as well as access to world-class special for graduates. She has defined and simplified the terminology and concepts that are mentioned in the standards of quality such as quality assurance, academic accreditation, academic reference standards, academic standards, the annual report, action plans, intended learning outcomes, stakeholders, and the site visit. Additionally, she has also clarified the general and special benefits which would accrue to the faculty and its students and graduates when it gets Accreditation from a distinctive international organization.
On the other hand, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Ahmed Moustafa, Professor of Medicinal chemistry and head of the Quality and Academic Accreditation unit in the faculty held a lecture entitled "General Standards for safety in laboratories,". He presented the importance of full compliance with the standards of security and safety measures in student and scientific research laboratories and the requirements elements and tools necessary to maintain the health of the student and faculty member during the various laboratory sessions. He also delighted alerts and guidance for students for safe and clean use of the faculty’s labs and urged all employees of the faculty, students and staff to adhere and foster the culture of safety and security, as a key prerequisite in order to get academic accreditation of the faculty in the near future. At the end of the lecture, a video demonstration was played that explains the combined errors committed during the use of the laboratory and how to avoid them.
